Joutarou Aragaki has spent his whole life in gymnastics, and Japan has spent years waiting for him to bring back the glory days. At twenty nine, with a wrecked shoulder and a dead wife behind him, he still shows up to train every single day. Nothing moves. His coach pulls him aside, tells him gently that he has hit his ceiling, and suggests he quit. So Joutarou takes his nine year old daughter Rei to Ego Wonderland to break the news somewhere fun. That plan lasts about ten minutes. A grown man in ninja gear starts following them. He calls himself Leonardo, claims he is a ninja, and somehow ends up at their house, wrecking every quiet moment Joutarou had planned for the talk. Then Leonardo says the one thing that lands: he wants to see Joutarou do gymnastics again. So instead of retiring, Joutarou stands up in front of all of Japan and announces he is staying. Now he is training for the hardest routine of his life, with a shoulder that might not hold, a daughter watching from the stands, and a ninja in his living room. Can a man past his peak really claw his way back to the top?
