Hiyori learned to fly fish from her father, back when his odd hobbies filled the house and the two of them would stand in the surf for hours. He is gone now, but she still comes to the same shore with his old rod, casting into the water because it is the one place that still feels like him. Then one afternoon a girl named Koharu bounds up and asks to try. She is loud, curious, and terrible at it. She stays anyway. Here is the part Hiyori does not see coming. That dinner her mother has been nervous about all day, the one where everyone meets the fiancé and his daughter? Koharu is the daughter. These two strangers who just spent an afternoon swapping stories about the exact same anxious evening are about to sit across from each other as family. Same table. Same roof, soon enough. So now there is a new sister who wants to learn the cast, a kitchen where they figure out what to cook, and a quiet shore that suddenly has two sets of footprints on it. Hiyori came there to hold onto something she lost. What happens when the thing she finds is someone who needs her just as much?
