Scorched Bread

A loaf stays in the oven too long. The bakery moves on, the shelves fill up with soft golden rolls, and one blackened piece of bread sits there with no price tag and no future. That is Kogepan: burnt through, hard as a brick, and painfully aware that he will never be the fresh, fluffy thing everyone actually wants to buy. So he mopes. He sleeps a lot. He wanders off from home whenever the mood hits, has zero patience for careless bakers, and drinks milk like it is the only comfort left in the world. Gloomy, depressed, basically over it. But is being a charred bun really as hopeless as it sounds?
