Four guys on the road west, and not one of them is good company. Sanzo barely speaks unless he is pointing a gun at someone's head. Gojyo and Goku bicker over everything, Hakkai smiles through it all in a way that never quite reaches his eyes. They share a jeep, a mission, and a habit of nearly killing each other before breakfast. The mission is simple on paper: get there before the demon Gyumao wakes up. Then two strangers arrive from the west, and the fight stops being the hard part. This pair is strong enough to make the four of them look like amateurs, and worse, they know exactly where to push. Old grudges surface. Loyalties get tested. A wrong word at the wrong moment and the group splinters, which is precisely what the enemy is counting on. Every mistake out here costs blood, and they are making plenty of them. Can four people who can hardly stand each other hold it together long enough to save anyone at all?
