Ruby Rose is fifteen and stuck at home while her big sister Yang rides off to Beacon Academy without her. Then some armed robbers pick the wrong girl to mug, and word of how Ruby handled them lands on Professor Ozpin's desk. Suddenly she has an invitation of her own. Across the world, Weiss Schnee walks away from her father's plans for her, and Blake Belladonna slips out of her vigilante crew, both headed for the same school. When the four finally meet, nobody is swapping friendship bracelets. Weiss thinks Ruby is a reckless kid, Blake keeps her past locked down tight, and every conversation turns into a fight. That is before the Grimm show up. Monsters born from nightmares, hunters-in-training with weapons they built themselves, soul-born powers called Semblances, and a school sitting on more secrets than it admits. And somewhere in the shadows, the White Fang and whoever pulls their strings are already moving. Can four girls who can barely stand each other hold a line when it breaks?
