Gawain has spent his whole life in the mountains, swinging at rocks and dreaming about the one thing he can't stop thinking about: making a ball fly. Then a woman shows up in his tiny village and hands him a golf club. One swing. That's all it takes. The ball rockets off into the sky and something clicks in his head that will not switch off. He expects his grandfather to say no. Instead the old man gives him a nod, and just like that Gawain leaves the only home he has ever known and follows this woman he barely knows to Tokyo. She won't say much about who she is or why she picked him. The city is loud, the courses are enormous, and the kids his age have been training since they could walk. Gawain has raw power and almost no technique. Every match throws someone new at him, some of them friendly, some of them not, and each one wants to see if the mountain kid will crack. Can a boy who learned the sport last week really survive against players who have spent years sharpening every shot?
