Rin Ogata was supposed to be the next big name in ballet. She trained since she was three, won competitions, then landed the lead role. During that performance she wrecked her leg. Her mother, a famous dancer, had died years earlier, and Rin knew she would never be better than her now. So she walked away from the stage and enrolled in a theater academy, because a normal life seemed easier than a broken dream. Then it rained. She ducked into a club building to wait it out, and somebody offered her a ride on a strange machine parked inside: a Rideback, a robot on wheels that folds and shifts as it moves. Half bored, she climbed on. Something snapped, the thing took off, and Rin lost control. She leaned, twisted, shifted her weight to keep from crashing, and the bike answered every move. It felt like dancing. She was a natural, better than anyone in the club. Which is exactly the problem, because the GGP runs the world now, and the same talent that makes her fly on a Rideback makes her a target for people with guns and badges. Can a girl who quit the stage really stay out of a fight she never asked for?
