A tiny mouse in a space suit floats past the stars, the first of his kind to ride the Milky Way. Back on Earth he lands in an ordinary neighborhood, where a girl, her pet mouse, the local cats, and a whole crowd of mice live their small daily lives. He talks. He walks right up and says hello like it's nothing. Nobody can quite explain where he came from, and he doesn't rush to tell them. He just wants to make friends. Then the truth slips out. This mouse is from the year 2,388,400. He came from a future so far away that the number barely means anything. That changes how you look at him. He knows things nobody around him has heard of. He has seen what happens next, to the street, to the people, maybe to all of them, and he keeps it to himself. So now every day is a small adventure, and every friend he makes is a gamble. The cats circle him. The other mice don't trust a newcomer who came out of the sky. The girl is the only one who treats him like he belongs, and even she doesn't know what he's hiding. What exactly did he leave behind up there, and why did he come all this way back to find a girl and her pet mouse?
