Junki Saiga is good at math. Really good. Otherwise he is just a regular high school kid until the day his family gets word that his father's remains have finally turned up. The man was an archaeologist who vanished years ago on an expedition, and what came back with his bones were notes and artifacts that nobody in the family can identify. So they go to the foot of a strange triangular mountain in Japan, the one people call Japan's own pyramid, the one some swear was built by human hands. That is when the sky splits open. A meteor slams down carrying something mechanical and alive, and it starts tearing the place apart. Saiga is about to die. Then the bracelet from his father's research wakes up, and something buried deep inside the mountain wakes up with it. An ancient robot, and the runes on it give a name: Reideen. The boy and the machine merge, and just like that, his normal life is over. Now he has a giant guardian he never asked for and an enemy from space he cannot begin to understand. His father spent years hunting for this thing, and the notes are still only half read. What exactly did his father find out there, and why did he never come home to tell anyone?
