Xia Ling just wants a job. She sends out resumes, waits, and one day a strange interview notice lands in her inbox. It leads her somewhere that is not an office at all: Rakshasa Street, where spirits and the living share the same pavement, and not everyone gets to walk it. You need a guide. You need your own guardian spirit. And the place is crawling with malicious things that make a solo stroll a bad idea. She almost dies there. Cao Yanbing, a Soul Guardian, pulls her out. Then he notices something odd about this ordinary girl. She carries spiritual power, and a mysterious guardian spirit lives inside her. Assassins start coming for her. Cao Yanbing gets pulled in too, whether he likes it or not. Their fates tangle together, and behind the attacks sits a secret far more dangerous. Can Xia Ling learn to live with the spirit inside her when her life is the price?
