Two world wars left Hinomoto broke, its economy in ruins. Then came the tech boom: gasoline engines, aircraft, geomagnetic drives. Everything got faster and cheaper, and the old rail lines just stopped paying for themselves. One by one, they went quiet. Depots emptied. Timetables came down off the walls. That is when the Raillords show up. Humanoid control modules, bright-eyed girls who run the trains they are assigned to, and they are not about to let the tracks rust over. Suzushiro, who works the Manoka line, calls them all to Ohitoyo City for a summit. One room, a pile of failing railways, and a roomful of stubborn personalities who each want their own route saved first. The plan is simple to say and hard to do: pull in more passengers, bring the companies back into the black. Between the arguing and the nostalgia trips down famous old lines, something else starts to click. Can a bunch of glorified train parts really drag an entire era back from the dead?
