In a Japan where the government never let go of the railways, the trains run on time and a steady job with Japan National Railways looks like easy money. That's all Naoto Takayama wants. A quiet desk, a decent paycheck, no surprises. So he signs up for the trainee program, expecting to memorize some schedules and coast. Then he meets his classmates. Aoi Sakurai can outrun and outfight anyone on the force, and she wants nothing to do with men. Sho Iwaizumi never stops eating. Haruka Komi has every train fact memorized and recites them whether you asked or not. Before the trainees even settle in, they're chasing purse snatchers, staring down bomb threats, and scraping through drills that feel a lot more like combat than classwork. And someone else has been watching the rails. A group called RJ wants the network privatized, and they are not filing polite paperwork to make it happen. Naoto signed up for comfort. Now he's standing between the trains and the people trying to tear them down. Can a guy who just wanted a stable life survive a war over who owns the tracks?
