Takurou just wants to fish. That's it. A quiet pier, the slap of water against the boards, bugs skittering around his feet, and a line in the water. Then something yanks on his hook, and it isn't a fish. It's Muromi, a mermaid with more energy than sense, and she decides on the spot that this bored kid is her new best friend. Whether he likes it or not. She shows up every day. She leans in way too close. She rambles about the Earth's ancient past like she was actually there for it, and weirdly, the old legends check out. Then she starts bringing friends. A yeti. A kraken who can't hold his liquor. Suddenly the pier is a hangout for every mythical creature on the planet, and Takurou's peaceful spot is gone. He tries to keep his distance. He tries to just cast his line and ignore her. It never works. And whatever you do, do not ask that mermaid how old she is. So what exactly is he supposed to do with a companion who never leaves, never listens, and might be older than the ocean itself?
