Thirteen years with the Indiana Hornets made Gorou Honda a name people knew. Then one bad throw, one wrecked arm, and the pitching career he built from nothing was over. Most guys would call it a day. Not him. He looks at what his father went through, all those years of setbacks and comebacks, and decides he is not finished with baseball yet. New position. Same stubborn streak. So the training starts again. Early mornings, long hours, a body that no longer cooperates the way it used to. That part is expected. What he does not expect is the silence waiting for him at home. His daughter Izumi cannot understand why her dad keeps choosing a field over her, why he drags himself back to the dirt every single day when he could just stay. She is old enough to be angry and young enough to feel it. Gorou has faced down injuries, losses, the end of everything he worked for. Now the hardest opponent is not standing sixty feet away. Will chasing the game one more time cost him the one person who has been watching him the whole time?
