Episode 13 · Kiba

Kiba

Zed lives in Calm, a gray city where the wind never blows. His mother sits in a psychiatric hospital. He gets thrown out of school for smashing things, and honestly he does not care. Doors, that is his thing. Any locked door drives him crazy, because a locked door means somebody else decides where you can go. He believes there is a place where his life would be different, and every night the same dream comes: something opens a gate and calls him to follow. Then the school and his guardians stop bothering with ordinary punishment. A hotheaded kid with a talent for breaking doors becomes a problem they want gone, and that is when the whole thing kicks off. Zed and his brainy friend Noah, a boy stuck in a broken body of his own, both end up somewhere that is not Calm at all. A world of magic, of power you can grab with your bare hands, and of a rebellious spirit named Amir Gaul who fights alongside Zed. It looks like freedom. It looks like everything they wanted. But the power they are chasing can just as easily save this world as wipe it out, and Zed has no idea which one he is holding. So what happens when the boy who only ever wanted out finally gets a door that opens both ways?
