Youko Nakajima just wants to be left alone. She gets the grades, she runs the class, she says yes to every favor anyone asks. And still nobody sits with her at lunch. All because of her red hair, which in her school might as well be a warning label. Then a blond stranger in elegant clothes walks into her classroom, bows low, and calls her his master, the rightful ruler of a kingdom she has never heard of. Before she can even ask what he means, the windows shatter. Something with claws and too many teeth comes through after him, and in the panic that follows Youko, her classmate Yuka, and a boy named Asano get yanked out of their world entirely. Keiki vanishes somewhere in the chaos. The three of them land in a country that makes no sense, with no food, no money, and no idea who to trust. Every stranger who offers help seems to want something in return, and the monsters are still hunting them. So Youko has to stop being the girl who apologizes for existing. What happens when the person who has spent her whole life trying not to stand out suddenly has to decide who lives and who dies?
