Katanagatari
Shichika Yasuri lives on a quiet island with his sister Nanami, practicing a fighting style where his own body is the weapon. No sword, no blade, just flesh trained to cut like steel. He is the seventh head of the Kyotouryuu school, and he seems perfectly content to stay forgotten. Then Togame walks in. A strategist with the shogunate behind her, she has a list: twelve legendary swords forged by the mad craftsman Shikizaki Kiki, scattered across Edo-era Japan. She wants Shichika to help her collect every one of them. He says yes, though not for politics. Not for the shogun. He is curious about her. The swords are not lying in temples waiting to be picked up. Each one has a wielder, and each wielder is a problem. Togame's enemies are already moving against her, and some of them have nothing to do with the blades at all. Two people against a country full of people who want them dead. How long can a man who fights with his bare hands last against twelve cursed swords?
