Seven years is a long time to forget. Yuuichi Aizawa comes back to his aunt's house in a quiet northern town because his parents have run off to Africa for work, and his cousin Nayuki greets him like family. He greets her like a stranger. Every street, every face, all of it wiped clean from his head. Then he opens a box and finds a red headband. Nobody knows whose it is. Not his aunt. Not Nayuki. That headband pulls him out into the snow, and the town starts handing pieces back. A girl here, a promise there, fragments of things he said to people he can no longer picture. None of it fits together. Worse, every girl he meets seems to be holding a piece of a life he left behind, and some of them have been waiting a very long time. Something is wrong with this town. Something is wrong with his memory. And the thing he still cannot reach, the one memory sitting just past his fingertips, might be the one that explains all of it. What did he promise, and who is still waiting for him to remember?
