Yuuichi used to spend every childhood summer in this snowbound town, running through the streets while his aunt's house stayed warm and loud. Then something happened. He didn't come back for seven years, and whatever chased him away, his own mind quietly erased. Now he's returned to live with his aunt and his cousin Nayuki, sharing a house with a girl his age who remembers everything he's lost. The winter air here has a strange effect on him: every face he passes feels like a half-finished sentence. It isn't just a feeling. There's a girl waiting on a bench in the cold, a girl who doesn't seem to belong to any school he's ever heard of, and several others who look at him like they've been holding a seat for him for years. He can't explain why his chest tightens when they speak. He can't explain why the falling snow feels less like weather and more like a door someone left unlocked. Piece by piece, the summers he lost start coming back, and not all of it is warm. Some of it is the kind of thing a kid buries on purpose. So what exactly did Yuuichi walk away from seven years ago, and what happens when the girls who stayed behind decide it's finally time he remembered?
