Two thousand years after a war wrecked the planet, Earth is still a quiet, stubborn place. People ride trains, tip their hats, and live like it's the 1800s, with no memory of what came before. Up on the Moon, though, the old tech survived, and the Moonrace has been quietly watching, waiting for the ground to be livable again. So they send down a few scouts, including a boy named Loran Cehack. He spends a year working for the Heim family, settling in so well that the place almost feels like home. Then the Moon people come down. Not to visit. To take. Loran's world splits open the day the family rolls out its prized stone monument, the White Doll. Shell cracks, and inside sits a mobile suit nobody knew was there. He climbs in because someone has to, and just like that, this quiet kid is standing between two civilizations with their guns pointed at each other. The Earth side wants him as their weapon. His own people see him as a traitor. All Loran wants is to stop the shooting before it turns into the same catastrophe that ruined everything the first time. Can one pilot really hold two worlds back from the edge?
