Hange wants a titan alive. Not a corpse, not a sample. When one appears near the forest during the 49th mission, she rides out alone, against Erwin's orders, and starts talking to it like it might answer. It doesn't. It walks off. She follows it anyway and finds a diary that shouldn't exist, written by a scout who died long ago. Then things get smaller. Jean can't stand his squad, Sasha steals food, and a stupid argument turns into a cooking contest with a wild boar as the prize. Later, a training trek falls apart when bandits steal the gear and grab Christa. The same kids who were at each other's throats minutes ago now have to work together. So what exactly did Ilse write in those last pages, and why did that titan lead Hange straight to it?
