Hiroshi Inaba looks like any other guy on the street, and that is the point. He is half wolf, engineered that way, and he can lick a single strand of hair and tell you who it belonged to, where they went, what they ate. For years the police kept him on a leash and he caught everyone they pointed him at. Then his little brother vanished. Inaba walked out, hung up a sign for his own detective agency, and hired two people: Yuta Sasaki, a transvestite with a temper and a mean swing, and Kei Nozaki, honest, loyal, and not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer. His old colleague Inspector Oginohara still calls when things get ugly, and these days ugly wears a goat's head. Don Valentino, half goat and all appetite, robs banks and runs a counterfeiting operation, and he eats money. Actual banknotes. Inaba wants him behind bars more than he wants anything, but every lead turns into something stupid: a chase through the wrong building, a witness with feathers, a hair sample that tastes like trouble. And underneath the gag of it all sits the thing Inaba never talks about, the brother nobody has found. What happens when a wolf who solves crimes by chewing on them finally bites off more than he can swallow?
