Kou has one rule he lives by: never owe anyone anything. Then some kids messing around on Arakawa Bridge send him into the river, and a girl in a tracksuit pulls him out. Now he owes her his life, which for a rich businessman's son is basically the end of the world. So he offers to repay her any way she wants. Money, favors, whatever. Nino just stares at him and says she wants a boyfriend. She lives in a cardboard box under the bridge, by the way, and has zero plans to move. So Kou packs up his comfortable life and moves into a box next to hers, because a deal is a deal, even a completely insane one. The neighbors are a whole other problem: a self-proclaimed music star, a guy who insists he's from Venus, a nun with a mean streak. Kou keeps telling himself this is temporary, that he'll find a way out. But every time he tries to leave, Nino is just standing there with that blank look. How long can a guy keep his pride when his girlfriend lives in a box and his new family is a bunch of strangers under a bridge?
