Tomoya Okazaki coasts through his last year of high school on the hill above a quiet Japanese town. Late every morning, uniform a mess, staring down classmates who actually care about exams. His only real friend is a slacker named Sunohara, and that suits him fine. Then a girl with no one left starts showing up in the same empty hallways. Nagisa Furukawa, clumsy, alone, all her old classmates already graduated. He shrugs her off at first. Then he keeps running into her. Bit by bit the wall comes down, and when he hears she wants to bring the Drama Club back to life, this guy who never finishes anything decides to help her do it. Along the way, other girls from school drift into his orbit, and he starts letting them in too. What looks like a small favor turns into something much heavier. The two of them run straight into hardship, the kind that does not care how young you are. So what happens when helping one lonely girl turns into carrying her whole life, and yours along with it?
