Two superpowers, Donatia and Kouran, have been tearing each other apart for years, and tiny Nil Kamui sits right between them. Its land gets carved up, its people get caught in the crossfire. Then things get worse. The island's own guardian, the Red Dragon, loses its mind and starts torching villages, killing anyone in its path. So a joint expedition is put together to deal with the dragon: a warrior monk named Zhenhua Lou, a Black Dragon knight called Swallow Cratsvalli with her companion, and a young man named Ibuki, who happens to be descended from Nil Kamui's royal family. He lives at an orphanage and wants nothing to do with any of it. No throne, no fighting, just peace. Except the world won't let him sit this one out. Ibuki hates conflict, and conflict keeps dragging him in anyway. He's got his guard Eiha at his side, and now he's marching toward a mad god with people he barely knows. Can a guy who never wanted to be king save a country that's already burning?
