Geniuses keep popping up everywhere. A kid who plays piano like a veteran, a runner who smashes records nobody thought touchable, scientists solving problems decades ahead of their time. The world calls them superhumans and treats them like miracles. Then the miracles start to rot. A few years after the talent shows up, their bodies fall apart, and nobody can say why. Joe Carol Brane wants Dr. Black Jack to treat them quietly, away from the cameras and the panic, and he won't take no for an answer. Black Jack has cut open plenty of hopeless cases, but this one has no name, no history, and a clock that already ran out for everyone who came before. Can a surgeon with no license and no patience crack a disease that kills the very people it created?
