Betterman
Keita spends his afternoons arguing with friends about fighter jets and which girl in class is cutest. Normal kid, normal noise. Then Hinoki walks back into his life as the new transfer student, and for one bright moment it feels like luck. He chases after her once the bell rings. Wrong turn. He ends up in Bottom World, an underground amusement park that never opened because something terrible happened there, and nobody ever explained what. The rides are alive now. So is the robot, and Hinoki is already sitting in its cockpit, working for a company that hunts bizarre outbreaks of violence across the globe. Keita climbs in beside her. They fight. They lose ground. Only when a man who can reshape his own body, Betterman, crashes into the fray do they stand a chance of getting out. Now Keita is signed on with Akamatsu Industries, up against technology he cannot name and an enemy called Algernon that nobody seems to fully understand. Why did Hinoki come back to his school of all places, and what does Algernon actually want with him?
