A black crystal called Originium sits in the ground where disasters strike, and it hands out miracles. Free light, free heat, and Arts that look like magic in the palms of ordinary people. Then the same crystal starts growing inside whoever touched too much of it. Their body hardens. Their corpse poisons the next person who comes close. No cure exists, so the nations do the cheap thing: round up the infected and treat them like garbage. That is when Reunion shows up, and they do not ask for sympathy. They burn cities down, one after another, and the Catastrophes keep coming on their own. Rhodes Island, a pharmaceutical outfit with armed escorts, says it will save infected and healthy alike, and it might actually have the research to do it. One problem. The Doctor, the one person who could finish the cure, woke up with no memory of anything. So now a half-empty man is dragged through riots and rubble while everyone argues about whether he is still worth protecting. Can a person with no past still be the cure for the future?
