Seven Oracles sit above everything, handing out fates like dealt cards. Rich or poor, free or in chains, happy or crushed: the script was written before anyone was born, and mortals are expected to just live it. Then the god behind it all cracks open a door. The AOTU Contest. Win, and the throne of the world is yours. The system hands out abilities nobody has ever seen before, and the desperate, the ambitious and the furious all line up for a shot. Some fight smart. Some fight dirty. Some fight with nothing left to lose. Every match burns through another piece of the world's order, and the ones who made the rules start watching their own game too closely. But a prize like that always costs something. What exactly does the Contest take from the people who survive it?
