On the rooftop of Tenikai General Hospital, past the stairwell nobody bothers with, sits a pathology department with exactly two people in it. Takao Ameku runs the place. She looks young enough that people mistake her for a student, right up until she opens her mouth. Beside her is Yuu Takanashi, resident, assistant, and the one who does the sighing. Then the strange cases start landing on their table. Symptoms that make no sense, deaths nobody can explain, and the police, who want her nowhere near their investigations, because Takao cannot leave a good mystery alone. She pokes at it anyway. That is the problem. Every time she claws a diagnosis out of a body, she steps on toes at the hospital and in the department, and the fallout lands on the people around her, Takanashi included. He knows she is usually right. He also knows being right is not the same as being wanted. So when the next impossible patient arrives, what will it cost them this time?
