A wanderer stumbles into a shrine and finds the place crawling with possessed objects that have minds of their own. Smash cut to old Edo, where a single spark is about to swallow the whole city in flames. Then a girl begs a white bear to hunt the ogre stealing the village's firstborn daughters. And finally, the one that gives the film its name: soldiers in heavy armor ride into a dead Tokyo to disarm a secret weapon, only to find a tank that drives itself and does not want to be found. Four short films, four different worlds, all bundled under one title. Two of them come from Katsuhiro Otomo's manga, the other two are originals, and the whole thing arrived in 2013 after parts of it had already screened at Annecy the year before. The last stretch is the one that lingers: a post-apocalyptic ghost city, a squad sent to shut down a sentry, and a machine that has been waiting for them. Who exactly is hunting whom out there?
