On the planet Maris, the year is 2387, and humans are no longer the ones in charge. The Nozas have come to breed, and they need bodies for that: human bodies, emptied out, used as nests for their eggs. The colonists fight, but it is less a war than a harvest. Then three guns show up. Nobody knows where they came from or who made them. What everyone does know is that only three teenagers can fire them: JJ, Champ, and Apple, handed the rank of White Knights and thrown at an enemy that outnumbers them by everything. They are kids with prototype weapons against a species that wants the entire planet as a nursery. The Nozas keep coming. The guns keep working, for now, though no one can say why they chose these three or what happens when the triggers stop responding. And somewhere out past the colony walls, the next wave is already on its way. How long can three borrowed weapons hold a planet?
