Chiaki Enno gives tours of Shikigami-cho and performs the occasional exorcism just to keep the lights on. Normal teenage stuff. Then two thieves break into the Ozuno temple hoping to crack open a sealed pillar and walk off with whatever treasure is inside. What crawls out instead is something dark, and it latches onto the thieves, twisting them into monsters that tear through the temple while Chiaki runs for her life. Turns out that pillar was never a treasure chest. Twelve centuries ago her ancestor Enno Ozuno couldn't beat the demon goddess Karuma alone, so he borrowed the strength of a protector demon named Zenki, won, and locked him away in case the job ever came back around. It just did. Now Chiaki has to summon the thing her family buried and point it at the mess, because Karuma's servants are already cracking the seals that keep evil seeds in check, and people are turning into monsters all over. A schoolgirl, a demon on a leash she barely understands, and a town full of tourists who have no idea what is under their feet. Can she actually control Zenki, or does waking him up just make everything worse?
