Rin Okumura just wants things to go back to normal. That's not happening. Everyone at True Cross Academy now knows what he really is, the son of Satan, and the stares and whispers follow him down every hallway. Before anyone can figure out how to deal with that, something worse lands in their laps: the left eye of the Impure King, a demon so toxic that even its severed pieces kill, has been stolen from the academy's vault. Then a thief comes for the right eye in Kyoto. So the ExWires get sent to Kyoto to guard what's left and track down whoever is collecting the pieces. Rin tags along, but the distance between him and his classmates has never felt wider. He starts special training to get his flames under control, hoping that if he can prove he's not a threat, they'll finally look at him like a teammate again. Then the right eye disappears too, and suddenly the mission isn't about a thief anymore. Someone on the inside helped. Someone they know. Now nobody trusts anybody, a 140 year old seal is coming apart, and the thing it was holding back is closer to waking than it has been in centuries. Can Rin hold his own power together long enough to matter, or will the people standing next to him decide he's the bigger danger?
