At Winford Academy, in the old town of Helen's Hill, students learn to ride horses and joust. Takahiro Mizuno was the best junior jouster in his country. Then came the final match, and an injury that ended his days as a knight. So he switched to the begleiter program, the assistants who keep a jouster alive out there. His feel for animals and his years in the saddle make him the guy everyone wants. Girls line up to ask him to be their personal begleiter. He turns them all down. Then a stupid accident lands his friend Mio Kisasaski in a jousting duel. She is not even a knight. Takahiro agrees to stand in as her temporary begleiter, just this once. Except that one duel turns into a partnership, because Mio signs up for the annual tournament. Now he has to train a total beginner for the sport that broke him, while the whole school watches. Can the guy who could not ride anymore turn Mio into a real knight?
