Ning Yuan barely crawls out of one death trap and walks straight into another. A gangster named He Zhiyang has him pinned down, a doctor named Su Jin is screaming at everyone, and none of that matters once the three of them see where they actually are. An island. No way off it. They fell asleep in their own beds and woke up here, and they have nothing with them. No food, no gear, no clue. Then the island starts showing its teeth. Primitive tribes in the jungle. Sicknesses nobody has a name for, carried by viruses that have twisted into something wrong. Hunger, storms, wild animals. Every careless step out there can be the last one. And they are not alone: another group of strangers got dropped here too, with their own secrets and their own reasons to look out for themselves first. A cop, a professor, a drug dealer, a businessman. Getting off this rock means working together, but the people who could help them the most are also the ones most ready to stab them in the back. Can any of them put aside what they want long enough to survive each other?
