Sachi spends her afternoons walking the same quiet streets of Iwaki, violin case on her back, eyes on the sky. She is good with the instrument, less sure about everything else. The bus stop, the music club, her friends: it all works, but the best part of her day is the light on the rooftops when nobody is watching. Then a boy she has only ever seen from a bus seat steps into one of her walks. Kijinami paints, and he needs a view for his art club show. She knows exactly where to take him. Sunset does the rest. What starts as a small favor turns into evenings spent side by side, two kids who understand that a place can be taken away overnight. The earthquake of 2011 is not just a date in the past for Kijinami. It sits in the room whenever they talk about the future. Can two people hold on to what they have when they already know how fast it can disappear?
