Thermae Romae

Comedy2012DLERating 6,913+HD

Lucius Modestus designs public baths in ancient Rome, and lately every idea he draws comes out stale. His friends drag him to a crowded bathhouse to clear his head. He can't relax. Too many bodies, too much noise. So he dunks his head under the water and finds a tunnel down there that shouldn't exist. It spits him out in a modern Japanese bathhouse. Steam, tiles, taps, all of it utterly foreign to a man from the empire. Lucius comes back with his head full of shapes and systems he has never seen, and he tries to rebuild them at home. The results are rough. His resources are what they are. But the sheer strangeness of what he makes starts turning heads, and his name begins to mean something again. Two cultures that love hot water more than anyone else on earth, meeting through one man's lungs. Will Rome embrace what Lucius dragged up from the bottom of a bath?
