Thermae Romae Novae

Comedy2022NAZRating 7,213+HD

Lucius Modestus used to be a name in Rome. Now he sits around with nothing to draw, and his friends are sick of watching him mope. So they drag him to the public baths for a soak. Bad idea. The place is crammed, loud, steam and elbows everywhere. Lucius ducks his head under the water just to get one quiet second. And keeps going. Down there, past where the floor should be, is a tunnel. He comes up in a Japanese bathhouse, a couple thousand years from home, surrounded by people who think nothing of it. Suddenly his head is full of ideas again: heated tiles, water jets, all of it. The trouble is building any of that back in Rome with the tools he has. What he manages is rougher, smaller, never quite right. Still, people notice. Word starts to spread about the architect who thinks like no one else. Can a man who keeps vanishing into the baths actually claw his reputation back?
