Kakeru Aizawa knows he is not good enough on the pitch, so he quits chasing the ball and picks up a clipboard instead, managing the school team while his older brother Suguru soaks up all the glory as its star striker. Suguru keeps needling him about a talent buried somewhere inside him. Kakeru just laughs it off. Then fate kicks the legs out from under both of them, and the role he chose for himself stops making any sense at all. Now Kakeru trains harder than anyone, eyes fixed on a single prize: a spot on the national team and a walk onto the World Cup stage. He is not chasing it alone. His childhood friend Nana is already a phenom, a top ranked player with the nickname Little Witch and a place on Nadeshiko Japan, and watching her win makes him push even harder. There is also the small matter of what he feels for her, which he has never quite said out loud. So can a guy who once handed out water bottles really fight his way onto the biggest field in the world, or is he chasing something that was never his to begin with?
