Kenichi Shirahama gets used as a punching bag at the karate club, and the nickname the class gave him stings worse than the hits. His backpack is stuffed with self help books on fighting. None of them work. Then a new girl named Miu throws him flat on the pavement by pure reflex, apologizes, and asks to be friends. Turns out she can fold three thugs without breaking a sweat. Desperate, Kenichi asks for pointers. She sends him to her grandfather's dojo, Ryouzanpaku, a place packed with towering masters who look like they could snap him in half. Miu says he will get stronger, as long as he survives. Meanwhile a gang called Ragnarok is starting to circle everyone close to him. So this scrawny kid signs up as the dojo's first student and steps into a world of brutal training and real fights. Can someone who has never won anything actually protect the people he cares about?
