The bomb has barely stopped falling on Hiroshima when a Japanese submarine slips out to sea, hunting an American boat it was never supposed to find. The two go at each other somewhere in the dark water, and then nothing. No wreckage anyone admits to, no reports, no survivors in the record books. Both crews just vanish out of the war, fifty years before anyone thinks to ask where they went. Jump ahead half a century. A UN task force is poking around Antarctica, chasing weird readings out on the ice, and something is already waiting for them down there. A black cylinder. Nobody built it, nobody can explain it, and it does not want them getting any closer. What starts as a survey job turns into a fight for survival against a thing that should not exist. So what does a lost submarine from 1945 have to do with a black object parked under the Antarctic ice? And who exactly is steering this thing?
