Tiara just got her magic. First real assignment too: slip down to Earth, find the Throne of Yord, drag it home before the wrong hands get to it. Simple enough. Except home is the Guardian World, where the throne is the whole power supply, and Japolo, her familiar, is the only backup she brought along. Then Lena shows up. An old friend, another sorceress, and she wants the same artifact. No hard feelings, just hands off. And Kagetsu. The man Tiara once fell hard for is suddenly standing in the middle of all this, and his talent is the worst possible one for her: he cancels magic. He also has some deep, tangled connection to the throne itself, which nobody bothers to explain to her. So now every move she makes is a choice between the mission she swore to finish and the people she still cares about. What is she supposed to do when the thing she was sent to bring back turns out to be tied to someone she loves?
