Takuma Sakamoto has spent years inside the MMO Cross Reverie, and nobody there can touch him. His character, the Demon King Diablo, wears gear other players only dream about and hits levels they will never reach. Challengers line up, he swats them down, then he logs off and goes back to being a shut-in with zero social skills. That is his whole life. Then he wakes up on a stone altar. Two girls are standing over him, arguing about which of them did the summoning. A panther girl and an elf. He looks around and realizes he is inside the game, walking around as Diablo himself. The girls try an enslavement ritual to put him under their control, and it flips on them: now the collar is on their necks, not his. So the most powerful mage in the world has to drag two reluctant companions across a land that looks exactly like the one he knows from his screen, hunting for a way to break a contract he never asked for. He talks big because that is what the character does. Underneath, he is still the guy who never learned how to hold a conversation. Can he keep the act up long enough to fix this, or is he stuck playing the villain forever?
