A meadow full of clover, a fence to keep the flock safe, and a lamb named Chirin who never wonders what lies beyond. His mother stays close. The days are warm and slow and nothing bad ever happens. Then the wolf comes in the dark. Wor kills her, and the fence that was supposed to protect everyone suddenly means nothing at all. Chirin is left alone with a grief too big for a lamb to carry. So he decides he will not be a lamb anymore. He will become a wolf, and he will make Wor pay for what he did. But wanting to be a wolf and actually becoming one are two very different things, and the wolf he asks to teach him has plans of his own. What does it cost a lamb to trade his fleece for fangs?
