Graduation is almost here, and so is the end of the ReLIFE project. Arata Kaizaki has spent the better part of a year back in high school, and somewhere along the way these kids stopped being an assignment. He laughs with them, worries about them, fits into their lives like he was always there. That part feels great. It also eats at him. Because when the experiment wraps up, every memory of the awkward, slightly goofy guy in their class gets wiped. Those are the rules, and Ryou Yoake keeps reminding him of it. Then there is Chizuru. She came into the project closed off, practically a stranger to her own feelings, and two years later she is someone else entirely, warmer, more open, more alive. She changed because of the people around her. Arata's feelings for her have hit their peak at the worst possible moment, and the thought of her forgetting him completely hurts more than anything else the experiment has thrown at him. The second chance was real. It just does not get to last. Soon the uniforms go back in the closet and the gray, boring present is waiting, the one where he is not young anymore. Can two people hold on to each other when the rules say they will not even remember they ever met?
