A young swordsman named Roan and his oldest friend Yufa, an acolyte who never leaves his side, set out to face something vast and rotten that's crept across the land. The road there isn't kind. Forests, deserts, monsters lurking in every shadow, and the pair keeps collecting companions along the way, adventurers who join for their own reasons. Then the closer they get to the Dark Lord, the worse it turns. Enemies multiply. Every fight is harder than the last, and the tower waiting at the end sits somewhere deep below, in the underworld itself. Roan and Yufa say bards don't write poems about the dead, and the winner is always right, so nothing can stop them. Brave words. But with the path getting darker and their little band growing, who's really leading who toward that tower?
