Raccoon Rascal

Araiguma Rascal · あらいぐまラスカル
Slice of Life1977Nippon AnimationRating 7,00+HD

Sterling North spends his days in a small Wisconsin town feeding strays and mending cages. His mother is in a hospital bed somewhere far away. His brother is dug into a trench on the Western Front. That leaves the boy with his father and a dog named Hauser, and not much else. Then a fishing trip goes sideways. Hauser bolts toward a tree and starts digging, and the boys find a raccoon kit curled up alone. A hunter had shot its mother. Just like that, for a fur hat. Sterling does not hesitate. He scoops the tiny thing up and names it Rascal. Now he is raising a ring-tailed scoundrel who wrecks his chores and sleeps in his bed, while letters from the war keep getting shorter and his mother keeps not coming home. Is a boy supposed to hold a whole family together with nothing but a raccoon in his arms?
