Every history book ever written mentions the same thing: a shining bird whose blood can give you eternal life or wisdom. It watches civilizations rise, and it makes sure life keeps going across the universe. Humans, though, never change. Joy, grief, rage, love, the same feelings keep cycling through people no matter how many centuries pass. Certain beliefs and ambitions keep knocking the world off balance too. Then something shifts. The story jumps from ancient times all the way to space colonies, and that is where things get strange. Fate turns out to have a weird sense of humor, and the bird might not be as distant or as kind as the legends claim. The real fight is between people who want to use that power and the fragile order that holds everything together. Love and wrath push against each other, and old agendas refuse to die. So who exactly is the Phoenix protecting: humanity, or something else entirely?
