One morning Koyomi Araragi wakes up tied to a chair. His girlfriend Hitagi Senjougahara is the one who did it, and she did it to keep him alive. She has good reason: Deishuu Kaiki is back in town, a swindler who once bled her own family dry, and now he has set his sights on Araragi's sister Karen. So Araragi sits there and takes it, until his phone buzzes with a frantic message from Karen. Then the ropes stop mattering. Karen is already mixed up with Kaiki and the curse he is spreading around, the same one that once landed on Nadeko. Araragi's other sister Tsukihi has her own mess waiting for him, and two strange women have quietly slipped into their lives with plans nobody can read. Araragi and his fire sisters have to move fast to shut Kaiki down, but the closer they get, the more the ground shifts under them, because what Kaiki is really after is not money. What happens when the person you are trying to save has been lying to you the whole time?
